NATIONAL Council of Sports (NCS) claim they have successfully blocked Uganda Athletics Federation’s (UAF) bid to change their account name at Stanbic Bank main branch in Kampala.
The federation wanted to change their account name from Uganda Amateur Athletics Federation (UAAF) to suit the newly amended UAF tag.
The tag is bitterly opposed by the supreme sports governing body, NCS who claim it was a plot by the federation to run away from NCS.
UAF general secretary Beatrice Ayikoru refused to comment on the alleged resistance, arguing that it was not public information.
Reports indicate that before the bank could grant UAF their wish, they consulted NCS over the issue. NCS rejected the idea out right.
“We could not accept it because we don’t like the idea of changing the name to scrap the word amateur,†NCS boss Jasper Aligawesa said yesterday.
