But Standard Chartered Bank and Sight Savers, a UK-based charity organisation with the help of Kibuli Hospital, rescued them. Last Thursday, Kafuko saw her 34-year- old daughter, Mubuwati Namulondo for the first time. She had no idea what Namulondo looked like until Namulondo called out “mumâ€.
This was at Kibuli hospital as the bank donated sh25m to Sight Savers International in a bid to tackle blindness in Uganda. Mastula Namugerere also regained full sight.
According to David Cutting, CEO Standard Chartered Bank, the money was raised by his staff.
