THIS time, it was not only on the house, but also in the house! Last Thursday, December 23, The New Vision staff members were at it again, partying the end of the year away. The venue was the new exclusive premises of the Leading Daily! The under-dressed, the over-dressed and the appropriately dressed were all there.

The annual ball set rolling at about 7:30pm with a few speeches and a prize giving ceremony for the paper’s best employees of the year. Several people were rewarded for their extra effort this year.

Eight members of staff, including David Sseppuuya, the Deputy Editor-in-chief took home shopping vouchers worth a million shillings for making 15 years of service at the New Vision.

Fashion Police’s Keturah Kamugasa and Science Editor, Dr Charles Wendo, got a boost for their Christmas with shopping Vouchers worth 75,000 for being the best editorial staff. IT department scooped the prize for best Department.

The food was abundant enough for second helpings. Not just snacks, but real food! Even though beers flowed like the Nile, greedy revellers could not keep from constantly fingering their pockets to make sure they still had their coupons. The soda-drinkers had to do with only two drinks.

The more witty beer drinkers exchanged their soda coupons with the beer coupons of those who were abstaining from booze before and during the party. In fact, beer coupons were ‘selling’ like hot cakes, as some people were only willing to exchange one coupon for two Sodas.

As soon as the dance was opened, the floor was swarmed with mostly tipsy staffers. Even the most seemingly humble members of staff like Wendo could not resist the tunes of the mostly local music provided by Silk Mobile.

Everyone seemed to be holding out their wild side, till most of the “top guns” had left for home. The tempo of the music and the flow of the drinks increased at an alarming rate.

As the evening went on, clusters of party animals, arms tight around their girls’ waists camped closer to beer points to make sure the alcohol did not go down on them. Some even collected bottles in advance, stashing them into their pockets for safety.

A horde of unknown girls was there to give the boys a good time. One particular girl in black and blue jeans was so ecstatic that she gave any willing bull a crouch-on-crouch butterfly dance.

After midnight, shirts found their way off people’s chests as drunken members got louder and rowdier. Many revellers moved on to the nearby Club Silk and Angenoir Discotheques to douse the night. But the party lunacy went on till about 2:30 in the morning as tired revellers staggered home for their Christmas break.
