THE newly introduced Kampala Open will set in motion table tennis activities for 2005.

The Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) season opener is due in Kampala in February.

UTTA organising secretary Brian Kaganda released in Kampala the new calendar containing seven events.

The activities include the national league to be held for the second year running. Matches start in July.
Fotogenix, inspired by former national champion Julius Omoding, won the league.

Eight teams, all based in Kampala, competed for the honours.
The season’s highlight is the Uganda Open set for October at Lugogo.

At the sametime, UTTA will hold training clinics for holiday makers during every school term break.
Last week, veteran George Yiga won the Uganda Open table tennis tournament at SYNTACC in Lugogo. The event was the last on the calendar.
