By Amlan TumusiimeTHE Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Flora Nkurukenda, has attacked critics on LC3 elections, saying they did not have the spirit to appreciate.Nkurukenda, who described the exercise as “very” good, said she was fed up with Ugandans who always criticised instead of appreciating the little done. “I want to tell you that the elections were every good and successful considering the problems the commission faced,” she told The New Vision on Friday.Nkurukenda’s remarks followed those of the commission chief, Aziz Kasujja, who described the polls as ‘very’ successful and the product of ‘a super star.’ The New Vision had called Nkurukenda to seek clarification on the date for elections in the areas where voting did not take place in Hoima district would be conducted.Over 30,000 people in areas of Buhanika, Kigorobya town council, Western Ward in Hoima Town Council and Kiziranfumbi, did not vote.Nkurukenda said she was not aware of the date but hastened to add that the elections in those areas would take place before the LC5 elections. The district returning officer, Kenneth Kiiza and the district registrar, Godfrey Bagonza, said voting in Buhanika sub- county did not take place because one of the candidates had his photo missing on a ballot paper, while other areas lacked enough voting materials.Ends
