13 land tribunals sworn in

THIRTEEN district land tribunal chairpersons and members have been constituted to resolve pending land disputes in districts.

They were sworn-in at a ceremony presided over by Justice Cosmas Kato who represented the chief justice Benjamin Odoki. The ceremony took place yesterday at Ridar Hotel, Seeta.Justice Odoki in his speech appealed to government to facilitate the new land tribunal chairpersons and members so that they can solve land disputes effectively.“For tribunals to perform, they need to be supported primarily by the Government. I encourage the Government to sacrifice and provide resources so that the tribunals can be effective,” Odoki said.State minister for lands Baguma Isoke appealed to the tribunals not to blame anybody for the inefficiency because the institution was new. He said they should work hard to succeed.
