The Electoral Commission has intervened in the controversy over the winner of the Nangabo LC3 chairperson’s seat and has promised to make a statement soon.

By Josephine Maseruka The Electoral Commission has intervened in the controversy over the winner of the Nangabo LC3 chairperson’s seat and has promised to make a statement soon.This follows confusion over the l winner in a two-man race in which the Katabi sub-county chief Mr. Godfrey Kasasa was declared winner with 6,082 votes defeating his sole rival Pastor Peter Cleaver Kasozi by 1,192 votes.Teddy Mugote the Electoral Commission public relations office yesterday said they had received complaints from Kasasa and Kasozi and that the commission would come out with a final decision after studying the situation.Confusion reigned high on Monday night when Kasozi and his chief campaigner, who is also the area MP, Ssitenda Ssebalu told residents that the commission had declared Kasozi the winner.Kasasa said he had written to the Wakiso Returning Officer withdrawing from the race.he said he also wrote a letter to the EC chairman Haji Azziz Kasujja cancelling his withdrawal letter after getting advice from his campaign team.Kasasa said Kasujja advised him to stay in the race.Ends
