KIYINDI-BUVUMA ferry that has been grounded for four years, has resumed operation, reports Robert Kanusu.The New Vision has learnt that the ferry is now being operated by the Ministry of Works.President Yoweri Museveni in 1997 ordered that the ferry resume operation to ease the water transport problem of the people living on Buvuma Island.The ferry previously managed by the Mukono District Administration, was vandalised and grounded for four years.The ferry master, Abdu Dumba said the ferry which runs twice a day, was free of charge for people travelling from Kiyindi to Kirondo landing site on Buvuma Island, Mukono district. He said it is able to carry 180 people and cargo worth 35 tonnes per trip.
