KABALE Parliamentary Group (KPG) has warned political and religious leaders in the district against engaging in sectarian politics.

The KPG that includes state minister for trade and Rubanda East MP Abel Rwendeire made the call in a joint statement issued yesterday. They expressed concern over what they called ‘escalating religious peddling and polarisation that has characterised the ongoing campaigns for the forthcoming LC5 elections.”“We, the undersigned MPs from Kabale, have noted with deep concern the escalating religious peddling and polarisation that has characterised the ongoing campaigns for LC5 chairpersons and councillors,” the MPs said.Other MPs are Steven Bamwanga (Ndorwa West) who is the chairperson, Hope Mwesigye (Woman MP), Serapio Rukundo (Kabale Municipality), Jack Sabiti (Rukiga), Avitas Tibarimbasa (Ndorwa East) and Henry Banyenzaki (Rubanda West). They appealed to political and religious leaders in the district to desist from dividing the population on religious lines, saying such practices retard development.Ends
