Kabaka sponsors the needy

By Josephine Maseruka Kabaka Ronald Mutebi has given 880 scholarships to needy children in Buganda and the beneficiaries range from primary to o level students.The Chairman of the Buganda education commission, Fred Masagazi, and the secretary general Kizza Walusimbi announced the scholarships.This category of beneficiaries is group A who are to be sponsored this year. The two other groups cover students of Advanced level and those in tertiary institutions whose lists are yet to be released.Several pupils and students thronged the Mengo education department on the top floor of Bulange building on Wednesday to peruse the lists of the lucky ones.Some in uniforms patiently waited for the officials to tell them their fate after failing to see their names on the lists. The Mengo minister of education, Chrysestom Muyingo, said, “the demand is so high, the burden on us is enormous but we luck funds.”
