Health To Build $24.5m Units

THE Government yesterday signed a US$24.5m contract with Dragados, a Spanish company, to renovate health centres and build and equip new ones in Kisoro and Kamuli districts.

Jaime Onega, the Dragados country representative, signed for the company.Health minister Brig. Jim Muhwezi, Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Kamuli Woman MP Rebecca Kadaga, and the gender state minister Sam Bitangaro, attended. Muhwezi said the work is funded by a loan from Spain and the work is to be completed in 24 months.He said one health centre will be built in each of the two districts. He also and two and four county-level units will be built in Kisoro and Kamuli districts.Muhwezi said 21 parish- level health units in both districts would be built in addition to an office for the Kisoro District Director of Health Services.Bitangaro, the Bufumbira South MP, said Kisoro district had waited for over five years for the construction of the health units to begin. as the loan scrutinised.Ends
