Headteachers of primary schools in Gulu district have been given three weeks to account for Universal Primary Education (UPE) funds, reports Odwong Wod Ayo.

Headteachers of primary schools in Gulu district have been given three weeks to account for Universal Primary Education (UPE) funds, reports Odwong Wod Ayo.The District Education Officer, George Onono Ocol, recently told the press that all primary schools would be audited by internal auditors.He said any headteacher who failed to refund the missing funds within three weeks would be prosecuted.Onono said the audit exercise will be a long-term process. He urged schoolheads to cooperate withthe auditors.Meanwhile, 26 headteachers in Gulu district were given transfers. Onono said the transfer was to enable primary schools receive enough teachers and quality education. Three secondary schools have had their headteachers transferred.
