By Josephine Maseruka THE Mengo cabinet has requested Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi to fire his Principal Private Secretary, William Matovu, for interfering with the duties of the Katikkiro, Joseph Ssemwogerere’s work. Some ministers have reportedly threatened to resign following Matovu’s report which they said made them look like thieves. The report directed ministries and departments that generate revenue to make their accountability to the finance committee . Other ministers said the Katikkiro is the appointing officer and not Kabaka’s principal private secretary, an act they said was meant to belittle the Katikkiro. When contacted on phone, Matovu said, “ I am sorry. I don’t sit in the Cabinet so I don’t know what goes on there. I have nothing to tell you.”Ministers were further angered by the Kabaka’s recent meeting with Prince Besweri Mulondo, the former Ssabalangira, whom they call a ‘traitor’.
