The policemen on Mubende highway are very courageous

SIR—Every time I travel to Mubende, my home district, I always see a police highway mobile patrol vehicle, UP 0043 on the Fort Portal-Kampala road. What I have never understood is whether the police has entrusted the staff on this vehicle to collect money from passengers or to do security and traffic work. The policemen never mind even if they find five passengers on a seat meant for three.They routinely ask conductors for money openly and wishing them a safe journey. Is it because passengers to Mubende don’t know traffic regulations and duties of traffic police? I suggest that somebody in authority takes stern action against these men and teach them a thing or two about the duties and behaviour of competent police officers.
