CMI ‘Hunt’ For Sgt Segane

By Emmy Allioand Davis WeddiRETIRED Sergeant Magid Segane, the man who arrested Kawempe North MP, Latif Sebaggala and six others, was yesterday disowned by all security agencies in the country.The army and the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence(CMI), yesterday issued arrest orders for Segane.But Police boss, Maj. Gen. Katumba Wamala said Segane was justified to arrest Latif Sebaggala for allegedly bribing voters. Katumba, however, added that the nature of arrest and the way Sebaggala was handled was very bad. “We shall investigate Segane,” he said.Internal and external security organisations have denied Segane’s existence on their staff list. Segane resides on Kafumbe Mukasa Road in Mengo-Kisenyi in Kampala Central, sources said.“CMI has ordered for a hunt for Segane. His arrest could explain the mystery about who he is, who deployed him and the office which deploys him,” army spokesman Major Shaban Bantariza said yesterday.Ends
