10 Killed In Gulu Road Crash

By Ojwee Denis At least 10 passengers were killed and about 20 people seriously injured in a road accident at Corner Nwoya, 30km on the Gulu-Anaka road yesterday.The accident occurred at about 1:45pm when a Dyna pick-up truck UBH 873, overturned on its way from Gulu town to Anaka. The driver, only identified as Nyeko, fled.The Police said six people died instantly while four died at St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu town.Two of the dead were identified as Marimo Ocaya from Anaka, James Odong, one of the two vehicle turnboys. A third one was identified only as Opira, a youth.Eyewitness said four of the bodies at the accident scene were female and two were of boys.Over 20 people were reportedly admitted to Lacor Hospital while others with slight injuries were taken to Anaka government hospital.Corner Nwoya is a black spot where many accidents occur.Ends
