Book tender winners ready for competition

By A. G. MusamaliMAKERERE University Bookshop has gone into partnership with Official Textbook Suppliers (OTS) in Masindi to run a book sales venture in the town. Other booksellers including Kamalu (Longman), Macmillan, Alfamat Bookworld, and Longhorn have swarmed Masindi under similar contractual arrangements with alternative OTSs. The situation is the same in Rakai, Lira and Kumi, the three other pilot districts that are to receive the primary school textbooks supplied under the Decentralised Teaching Materials Procurement Programme.Each of the pupils in P3 and P4 in the four districts has been allocated sh8,885 for purchase of the textbooks which will be received by October this year. The tender award has been riddled with controversy.
