By Kenneth Otim THE Police in Soroti on Wednesday dispersed youths who were demonstrating against the government for allowing the Karimojong to graze cattle in Katakwi district. The demonstration that started at 10:00am and ended at 12:45pm, was led by the secretary general of the Young congress, Jude Magnot and the former district youth chairman only identified as Okello. The Police fired rubber bullets at the youths who had gathered at Soroti public gardens, holding placards that denounced the Karimojong as terrorists. They also intimidated journalists who tried to take photographs during the demonstration. The cards read, “Museveni is a liar Museveni has hidden the economic agenda, Movement reign of terror, Teso ready for war with Karamoja, Chase Museveni from Teso, Iteso not criminals and stop terrorism in Teso”.Magnot said the government should respect the lives of the Iteso. “Let Museveni come to Teso and tell us what we have done to him,” he said.Magnot said Museveni had rendered the Iteso useless by allowing the Karimojong to steal cows from Teso.
