By Esther MukyalaTHE Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has accused former MP for Bugweri county Kirunda Kivejinja for interfering in the politics of Kamuli district.Kadaga referred to Kivejinja as a ‘political prostitute’ saying Kivejinja was combing the district to solicit for signatures aimed at a vote of no confidence in the newly elected LC5 chairman Baligeya Kaloli Isabirye. Kadaga was on Saturday speaking during a thanks-giving ceremony for Baligeya at the district local administration headquarters.“Kivejinja has been moving around with books to solicit for 90,000 signatures from the voters with an aim to nullify the nomination of Baligeya. This kind of tendency degrades him as a senior politician,” Kadaga said. She said Baligeya was declared unopposed district chairperson and could not be removed by Electoral Commission. She said some local people were being deceived that the President was intervening in the matter. Kadaga advised them to ignore such rumours, saying they were aimed at throwing the district into the ditch of underdevelopment.Kadaga castigated allegations that Baligeya was a multipartist and so would divide the people basing on political grounds. She said people were just creating a bad picture of Baligeya because he has never been a member of Uganda Peoples’ Congress.Residents were urged to cooperate with Baligeya to develop the district.Kadaga commended the people of Kamuli for adhering to the Movement system of Government and warned that cliques which were threatening to divert and join the multiparty system had their own hidden agenda.Ends
