Former president Tito Okello Lutwa’s widow who was involved in a motor accident in Kitgum is in a stable condition at Mulago hospital.

By Anne MugisaFormer president Tito Okello Lutwa’s widow who was involved in a motor accident in Kitgum is in a stable condition at Mulago hospital.Esther Okello, mother of the state minister for education, Henry Okello Oryem, was flown to Mulago on Monday with her two nieces in critical condition.Oryem, said yesterday his mother could now recognise and talk to people. He said many of her bones were broken.Mrs Okello is admitted in ward 3BE with one of her nieces. but the other niece is still in a critical condition in the intensive care ward. Meanwhile, Mrs Okello’s nursery going grandchild who died on the spot was buried on the same day as the family was preparing to fly the other victims to Kampala. Doctors at Mulago said they could not tell the extent of the damage suffered by Mrs Okello and the other victims. They said they were waiting for results from the scan.When the New Vision visited Mulago, Mrs Okello had been taken for scanning at the CT-Scan in town. The CT-Scan is the only one currently operating in the country and it is privately owned. The government CT-Scan at Mulago Hospital broke down last year and has not been repaired. The hospital director, Dr. Lawrence Kaggwa, said last December the scan would be repaired by the Christmas holiday.Ends
