‘Stop Mob Justice’

THE Uganda Human Rights Commission has urged the Police and other organs involved in the administration of justice to take action against mob justice.

By Joyce NamutebiTHE Uganda Human Rights Commission has urged the Police and other organs involved in the administration of justice to take action against mob justice.It also urged the Government to invest more in the justice system because it is a service that promotes people’s security, the rule of law and the resolution of conflict between citizens.The petitions were contained in the 2000-2001 annual report of the commission released on Thursday in Kampala.The commission said the crime was worrying. It quoted the Police Annual report which showed that in 2000-2001, a total of 272 cases of “mob justice” were reported and they resulted in the killing of 882 suspects.Ends
