Mini-cricket gets to regional level

FOURTEEN districts have picked their best schools to play in the national Mini-cricket Regional Championships this weekend.

By Ronnie Kintu FOURTEEN districts have picked their best schools to play in the national Mini-cricket Regional Championships this weekend.Over 3000 pupils from 86 primary schools turned up at the weekend to participate in the first ever district Mini-cricket festival sponsored by MTN Uganda and Stanbic Bank.Action will be in four regions. Mbale ground will host eastern region sides from Soroti, Mbale, Tororo and Iganga while Kakyeka stadium will host the western region schools from Fort Portal, Kasese and Mbarara.Entebbe, Jinja and Lugogo cricket ovals will be the main grounds for the other two regions this weekend.“Every thing went on smoothly and a lot of enthusiasm was evident among the youngsters in different districts,” Mini-cricket co-ordinator Aloysius Nainhabo told The New Vision.The teams:EntebbeEntebbe UMEA, Chadwick Namate,Kiwafu, Lake Victoria PS. Michael Ndiko (Wanderers) with a batting average of 57.4 was best batsman and Richard Ssempa best bowler. ENDS
