A Katakwi peasant who killed his stepfather by strangulation will hang following the dismissal of his appeal by the Supreme Court, reports Hillary Nsambu.Martin Kedi of Amoru village in Usuk sub-county, was convicted by Justice Augustus Kania of the High Court for killing his stepfather, Victor Dongan, at Amoru village in 1998.“We do not see any merit in the appeal. It is accordingly dismissed and we shall give our reasons on date to be announced later,” five Supreme Court Justices said.Earlier, the Court had also upheld the conviction and sentence to death against Kedi.The court had heard that Kedi, now 32 years, on March 31, 1998, met Dongan coming from a market where he had been drinking and killed him by strangulation.Ends
