Pre-qualification of Customs Clearance AgentsKinyara Sugar Works Ltd (KSWL) is in the process of further developing its Customs Clearance and Logistics Operations. To assist in this aim KSWL invites fully experienced Agents to submit a Pre-qualification Package, fully detailing their suitability to perform all Customs Clearance operations as well as the associated Services of Warehousing, Consolidation and Transport of both Imported and Locally Purchased Goods from Kampala to Site.The Agent must have experience in operating at all Points of Entry into Uganda and should be able to demonstrate a past performance of handling consignments for large successful organisations within East Africa. Every month on average 1.2 Billion Ush worth of goods is delivered to the KSWL site from Kampala. This value includes both Imported and Locally Purchased items.In addition to the normal Customs Clearance Services the Agent must be able provide a fully Insured Warehouse facility in Kampala for consolidating both imported shipments as well as locally purchased goods before shipment to site.As a minimum the Pre-qualification Package must contain:• A Complete Company Profile that must include TIN and VAT registration numbers and a copy of current Tax Clearance Certificate.• Details of Warehousing Facilities.• Details of Transport/Vehicle Fleet.• List of Personnel with copies of CV for senior staff.• Details of Links with Overseas Freight Forwarders.• Details of Insurance Proposals to cover the Goods during Warehousing, Consolidation, and Delivery to site.• List of Current Clients and References for same.After review of the Pre-qualification packages, KSWL will arrange to visit and review the operations and facilities of the Agents it proposes to move to the final stage of the Tender process.All Packages must be supplied in sealed envelopes, clearly marked on top “Prequalification of Customs Clearance Agents”, and addressed to “The Secretary, Internal Tender Committee. P.O. Box 179, Masindi - Uganda” All offers are to be placed in the bid Box located at either KSWL’s Head Office or the Kampala Office, not later than 4:00pm on Wednesday, the 24th April, 2002.
