Slum Aid Project (SAP) is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) working in selected slum communities of Kampala. Her mission is to contribute to the sustainable empowerment of women and children in the slum communities. SAP requires to fill up the following positions in the organization:1. ACCOUNTANTDuties and responsibilitiesa) Responsible for overall control of income, expenditure and financial administration of SAP.b) Advise the Project Co-ordinator and the Treasurer on the control of costs and achievement of budget plans through provision of regular financial information/ reports.c) Ensure preparation of periodic management reports and timely submission of financial annual accounts to the auditors.d) Oversee the budgeting and budgetary control activities and ensure preparation of annual budgets.e) Assist SAP Management on the development of feasible funding proposals for SAP.f) Oversee periodic review and update of SAP’s accounting system to ensure viability and efficiency in meeting SAP’s needs.g) Financial monitoring and analysis of SAP programs and preparation of periodic financial reports.h) Ensure tax compliance.1) Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Project Coordinator.Qualificationsa) Degree of Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration majoring in Accountancy. Additional qualification in ACCA will be an added advantage.b) Have a minimum of 2 years experience working in grass-roots organisations.c) Must be computer literate with sound knowledge of modern accounting packages.d) Knowledgeable in human rights issuese) Not more than 45 years of age.2. ACCOUNTS ASSISTANTDuties a) Assist the Accountant in the discharge of his/ her duties. b) Responsible for contingency. c) Preparation of payment vouchers d) Disbursement of funds. e) Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Accountant.Qualifications Degree or diploma majoring in Accounts Not more than 35 years of age.3. SECRETARY/ ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTDutiesa) Assist the Project Co-ordinator in handling administrative tasks.b) Attend to staff welfare.c) Responsible for keeping the equipment register.d) Answering phone calls and receiving SAP visitors and clients.e) Filing/preparing meetings/workshops.f) Typing correspondences and other documents.g) Receiving and dispatching mailh) Distribution of publications.i) Perform any other duties as assigned by the Project Co-ordinator.Qualificationsa) Degree in Social Arts/ Humanities or related field. b) Have a minimum of one year working experience. c) Knowledgeable in modern office management and administration d) Not more than 35 years of age.Terms Two years renewable contract depending on performance.Deadline to receive applications - Wednesday 26th April, 2002.
