By Fortunate AhimbisibweBeginning from April 19-28, Abafrica, a local drama group based in Kampala will be staging their play, Akashaka ka Rukundo (The Bush of Love) in the National Theatre. The State Minister of Information, Hon. Basoga Nsadhu, will officially launch the play. The play, which has a contemporary plot, is a tale about a man called Hagirimaana (Felix Tukwasiibwe) who finds himself in deep sorrow and trouble after a long illness. The doctors advise him to relax from his duties to be able to have enough rest from the fatigue.Hagirimaana, who is a manager of a Radio Station 444.4 Kashaka FM, does not s want any of employees to become acting manager, while he takes bed rest. He can only trust his daughter, Tina, to caretake for him. However, because the radio station is filled with his relatives, most of the employees find it hard to respect the new manager, Tina, since they are senior to her.Like an old adage goes, when the elder is not in the home, the frogs climb into the house. The whole station is messed up owing to the lack of respect.Trouble comes when the now ageing Hagirimaana asks his daughter to introduce her husband. Surprisingly, Tina brings home an ambassador. However, because of the prevailing circumstances, the old man seeks advice from his senior advisor, who however gives him the wrong advice regarding Tina’s marriage to the so called ambassador. When the situation seems to be out of control for him, the dissatisfied old man seeks refuge from a witchdoctor, Karoza, whom he thinks can change the course of events.Like any other witchdoctor, Karoza unfolds a number of issues, which throw Hagirimaana into confusion. The question is how will he emerge out of his labyrinth of trouble? The actors include Bridget Mirana, Frable Kwesiga, Barbara Nayebare, Sayuuni, Felix Tukwasiibwe, Anita Seruwagi, and Deisha Munyangoga, Kaikai and Aggrey Nshekanabo. The charge sh7,000 for adults and sh5,000 for children.ends
