NUDIPU officials in court

Buganda Road Court Principal Magistrate, Charles Sserubuga, on Tuesday asked two officials of the National Union of Disabled Persons in Uganda (NUDIPU) to defend themselves in a sh85,830,000 fraud case.

By Maurice OkoreBuganda Road Court Principal Magistrate, Charles Sserubuga, on Tuesday asked two officials of the National Union of Disabled Persons in Uganda (NUDIPU) to defend themselves in a sh85,830,000 fraud case.Sserubuga said Wansolo Kigenyi, 41, the national coordinator and Oscar Kambone, 37, an accounts assistant, were to answer fraud charges. “I have perused and examined the evidence adduced by the state witnesses against the accused. I find that prosecution has established a case against the accused on all the four accounts charged. This is sufficient to require them to put their defence,” Sserubuga said. Kambone and Kigenyi are on trial for causing financial loss and embezzlement of their employer’s money.Prosecutors alleged that the accused persons purportedly paid out sh33,400,000 to the National Organisation for Civil Education and Election Monitoring.It is also alleged that the two purportedly paid out sh52,450,00 to the Uganda Joint Christian Council for monitoring LC polls for persons with disabilities. They allegedly committed the offence on March 16 at their offices.
