A man whose mobile phone was stolen last year recovered it after pretending to woo the woman who had bought it from the thief.John Wekesa got excited last Wednesday when out of curiosity he rung the number of his stolen phone and a woman responded. He pretended as if he wanted to befriend her. He said he had rung her number accidentally but was taken up by her nice voice. The woman responded positively. He asked her where she was and told him that she owned a small restaurant at Kamwokya. They agreed that he went there next day. On Thursday Wekesa went with his friend called Onyango to Kamwokya and located the Woman’s Restaurant. She welcomed them warmly. As she went to the kitchen to serve them with what they had ordered, Wekesa instructed Onyango to go to Police and contact CID officers. After eating hurriedly, Onyango walked out as if to give Wekesa time to talk with his new lover. He ran to Kira Road Police Station and contacted the officers at the counter. A female CID was assigned the duty of arresting the woman on condition that she proved that she had the stolen phone.Onyango returned to the restaurant with the plain-clothed policewoman who he introduced as his girl friend. In order to catch the woman red-handed, the CID Officer rung on Onyango’s phone the number of Wekesa’s stolen phone. The phone in the woman’s bag rung and as she picked it to talk, the CID woman pounced on her and arrested her.She is still being held at Kira Road Police and Police looks for the man who sold it to her.ends
