Oryem names executive

By James BakamaEDUCATION and Sports state minister Henry Oryem has appointed an interim National Post Primary Schools Sports Association (NPPSSA) executive.Oryem who sacked the previous executive headed by Badru Ssentongo for delaying in office, has instructed the new team to prepare for elections in July.The new team comprises of Old Kampala headmaster Ouma Bwire, Justus Mugisha (Standard High School), James Gandi (Jinja SS), Ambrose (Kazo Hill School), Patrick Okanya (Kitante Hill School).Okanya, a Uganda Amateur Athletics Federation (UAAF) secretary, is the only person whom the minister appointed from the old executive.NPPSSA is supposed to run sports amongst secondary school in two-year terms of office.The next elections will coincide with the National Post Primary Schools Athletics Championships in Jinja.Sources close to the ministry said yesterday that prior to releasing the interim list, Oryem made wide consultations with an aim of instituting a broad-based committee.The minister’s aims are reflected on the committee through personalities like Okanya, Bwire and Mugisha.
