THE Minister for Trade, Tourism and Industry, Prof. Edward Rugumayo, has urged the electorate to stop pestering local leaders for money.

By Emmanuel MulondoTHE Minister for Trade, Tourism and Industry, Prof. Edward Rugumayo, has urged the electorate to stop pestering local leaders for money.Presiding over the swearing-in ceremony for the Kabarole district council, Rugumayo said public money was for public works.“Don’t go to these leaders to ask for money because it is not there. Go there to ask for advice,” he said.Rugumayo urged the new councillors especially the chairman to work hard. He said he needed support and was ready to listen to advice.He said the district was facing revenue problems because everybody was insisting on paying sh3,000, the lowest limit for poorest taxpayers.Rullonga said leaders must enforce graduated tax payment. He said the sh3,000 graduated tax was only for those people whose annual income was below sh280,000. Present at the ceremony were state minister for international cooperation, Tom Butime, Kabarole resident district commissioner (RDC) Canon Benon Rullonga, Kyenjojo RDC Grace Sendabaguzi and MPs Capt. Steven Basaliza and Araali Basaliza.Ends
