HEAVY rains in Kampala yesterday caused floods in many parts of the city.

By Vision Reporters HEAVY rains in Kampala yesterday caused floods in many parts of the city.The rains, which paralysed the start of business in the city, also brought to the fore a number of points that need to be tackled to hold back water that spewed into roads, submerged vehicles and held up traffic into and out of the city.An officer from the weather bureau in Entebbe said Kampala recorded 48.5mm while Entebbe received 55.5mm. He said they forecast continued wet conditions in the country.Floods at Kyambogo covered over 300 metres of the main road, blocking even the pedestrians.The city spokesman, Simon Muhumuza, said the city council was opening old and creating new drainage channels to ease the flooding.Ends
