American Senators Commend Museveni On AIDS

THE United States foreign relations committee yesterday hosted President Museveni at the Capitol Hill building in Washington DC, where the senators hailed Museveni’s role in the fight against HIV/AIDS pandemic, State House said yesterday.

By Vision ReportersTHE United States foreign relations committee yesterday hosted President Museveni at the Capitol Hill building in Washington DC, where the senators hailed Museveni’s role in the fight against HIV/AIDS pandemic, State House said yesterday.The statement said the senators discussed with the President the democratisation process in Uganda. Museveni told them the process was moving on smoothly and Ugandans were forwarding their views through the Constitutional Review Commission.Museveni emphasised that the only way to emancipate Africa from poverty was by accessing the big US market. He asked the senators to support the proposed modified African Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA) legislation that seeks an extension of the act. The Third Deputy Prime Minister and foreign minister, James Wapakhabulo, tourism, trade and industry minister, Prof. Edward Rugumayo attended.The Minister of State for Investment, Mr Sam Kutesa, and the chairman of the parliamentary committee on presidential and foreign affairs, Dr Nsaba Buturo, also accompanied the President to the meeting.Ends
