By Joan MugenziTHERE is an escalating incidence of pornography mainly targeting the youth yet nobody says anything about it. This is what Family Life Network is looking at especially now that teenagers are on holiday. The NGO has organised a one-day conference, to talk about the major problems facing the youth. The theme of the conference is “Let’s face it.” Stephen Langa, founder and director of Family Life Network, says that this is the best time to hold the conference and they are expecting about 1,000 teenagers to turn up. The conference will be addressed by several speakers, including counsellors, psychologists and pastors. The venue will be Didi’s World Amusement Park, Kansanga this Friday. The conference is going to focus on questions that young people ask. “We want to answer questions in the best moral perspective,” said Langa.“Many of the youth find pornography in schools. We thought that this is a good time. The youth can turn away from the trials and also go back to school and change their colleagues,” Langa told Education Vision. “Pornography is like a cancer and a poison. It spreads very fast. It can destroy society very fast. We want a deterrent action,” he added.Quoting US-based studies, Langa said that 80% of child molesters started with pornography and also hard core criminals like serial killers have started with pornography. This is something that should not eat up our society, he said. Registration fee for the conference is sh3000. Tickets can be got at La Fontaine Bookshop, Baptist Bookshop in Wandegeya and Power FM Radio.Ends
