I Was Quoted Out Of Context

SIR - I strongly refute your story of May 23 entitled “Chase banyankole, minister tells Iteso”.

SIR - I strongly refute your story of May 23 entitled “Chase banyankole, minister tells Iteso”. The article by Patrick Elobu Angonu quotes me out of context and the reporter should have had the courtesy to seek my clarification before publishing such a derogatory statement. I told the mourners at the funeral of the late Andrew Sylvester Etonu that Iteso should use me as a government minister to help them address the issue of the so many cattle- keepers who have entered Kumi and Soroti. The law allows any Ugandan to settle anywhere but this does not mean creating disorder. For the cattle-keepers entering Teso with large numbers of cattle we need a collective decision of all Teso stakeholders to streamline the situation which has hitherto caused concern. Angonu should not mix my position on this matter with that of the various local leaders who have visited the sites of these cattle keepers. The article portrays a negative image of me as a minister of and leader of Teso.Christine Amongin Aporu State minister for disaster preparedness and refugees
