Acholi MPs visit Gulu, Kitgum, Pader

MEMBERS of parliament from the Acholi sub-region under the chairmanship of Gulu municipality MP, Norbert Mao, have begun a 14-day working visit in the districts of Gulu, Kitgum and Pader, reports Dennis Ojwee.Mao said they would meet local leaders to discuss peace efforts, dismantling of displaced persons’ camps, unity, urbanisation and report to the district leaders on legislation in parliament.Others will include discussion on land, human rights and humanitarian relief, the constitutional review commission and a plan for post conflict reconstruction and development.Mao said the programme followed a resolution from a meeting in April.“The tour will be restricted to issues on which the Acholi MPs have a common position and avoid issues which may derail our focus on peace,” he said.Ends
