BUGANDA government minister for protocol Mustapha Mutyaba has appealed to Shell (U) Ltd to give more time to embattled squatters on a 240-acre land in Busiro county, Wakiso district, which is up for sale, reports Jude Etyang.

BUGANDA government minister for protocol Mustapha Mutyaba has appealed to Shell (U) Ltd to give more time to embattled squatters on a 240-acre land in Busiro county, Wakiso district, which is up for sale, reports Jude Etyang.Mutyaba is a member of a committee formed last week to negotiate with Shell for better terms.The over 200 squatters on the land privately owned by the Namasole (Queen mother), Juliana Ndibalekera, face eviction if they fail to pay sh1m per acre within 90 days starting from May 27. The land covers Maggwa and Nakiragala villages.Shell lawyer Kituuma Magala said Shell got the powers of attorney to sell the land from Ndibalekera. He the land is to recover money Ndibalekera’s grandson, Denis Ssempebwa, owes the company.
