The Police need 576 vehicles to effectively carry out their work but have only 256 that are road worthy, acting Inspector General Julius Odwee told the Speaker of Parliament yesterday.

Odwee was presenting a Police patrol vehicle to the Speaker, Edward Ssekandi, at the Parliamentary Building. The vehicle was bought from contributions of parliamentarians. Odwee said of the sh60m they received from the contributions, sh54m was used to buy the vehicle. He commended the MPs for contributing from “their-hard earned money.” Odwee told Ssekandi and the eight Members of Parliament present that only 105 vehicles of the operating ones were used in providing security.
