MASINDI District Council has expanded its executive committee from seven to nine members, dropping the former deputy Speaker, Christine Turyagaruka, who returned unopposed as Woman Councillor.

He warned that he would sack or demote poor performers early in his four-year term of office.“We were elected for a cause and I want you to mark my works seriously. Expect a demotion or reshuffle if you don’t perform,” Majara said. He was speaking after the approval of names proposed for the new committee in the District Chambers on Thursday. The former Speaker, Jacob Karubanga, returned unopposed, while his deputy, Fox Kaheebwa, was elected unopposed. The Chief Magistrate, Bashekana Sanyu swore them in.New entrants were Kanaginagi Ateenyi (education and sports secretary), Ben Moru (production), Beatrice Mpairwe (community Services) and Wilfred Byakagaba (management support services).The Resident District Commissioner, Betty Adima and the Chief Administrative Officer, Margaret Gimogoi, were present.
