By Geoffrey KamaliPOLICE in Katwe have arrested two men in connection with the brutal murder of three members of one family who were shot dead by armed thugs on Entebbe road a fortnight ago.Katwe CID chief Venice Tumuhimbise told The New Vision they had arrested the driver of an omnibus, number UAD 526N, hired by the family to collect the Kayises from Entebbe airport. In a seperate incident, another man was reportedly arrested in Arua Friday in connection with the murder. Details of the arrest could not be obtained immediately.Sulaiman Mutumba was picked with his conductor, Joseph Kasoke, early this week. Both are being held at Katwe Police station pending interrogation. The two reportedly diverted the taxi from the highway at Kajjansi to Nyanama, a city suburb, after the occupants sensed a strange car was following them. The two were not injured in the shooting.“They had no reason to pass where they passed. If they had continued along the highway, maybe it would have been different,” Tumuhimbise said. One of the deceased was 13-year-old Mirembe Nakabira ‘Mimi,’ who held US citizenship. The US embassy in Kampala has hired an investigator to help track down the killers. “Unfortunately, the one who hired the vehicle (Kyeyune), died in the shooting. We have a gap,” Tumuhimbise said.Others killed in the attack were Mirembe’s two uncles, David Kyeyune 35, and Joseph Kayise, a third year Makerere University student. The three were laid to rest in one grave at their ancestral home at Nsasi village in Luwero district. Three others injured in the attack are still admitted at Mengo hospital with bullet wounds.Mirembe had just arrived from her Dallas, Texas home, with her aunt, Allen Nakabira, when they were attacked by unknown thugs. An only child, she had come for holidays here.In a related incident, Police is investigating reports that the killers may have tracked Kyeyune from Kiyembe, a busy business hub in Kampala.Ends
