Bailey vowsKENYAN rally ace Paul Bailey has said he will travel to Kampala to defend the Uganda Pearl of Africa title he won last year. Bailey, one of the four local drivers sponsored by Caltex Kenya for the Safari rally that starts next week, said he enjoys driving in Uganda owing to hospitality of the Ugandans and favourable conditions. Bailey will drive a Toyota Celica. He finished 12th in the 1998 Safari and was fourth in last year's national championship.

Nkumba GalaTHERE will be no rest for Old Kampala Deaf Club (OKDC) as they are required to defend the Nkumba Open volleyball tournament tittle. The two-day tournament, sponsored by Coca-Cola is slated for Nkumba University starting today.After beating Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) to lift their own Deaf tournament on Sunday, OKDC who beat the same club in the Nkumba finals, will require their top form if their campaign to become the new champions is valid.

Kibuli hostsKIBULI SSS would be banking of home support as they host the national post-primary schools handball championship this weekend. The two-day meet that starts today was earlier set to be held at Kabojja SSS in Mpigi. The meet opens the UAF calendar. St. Henry’s College Kitovu of Masaka are defending champions for boys while Gombe SSS are girls category queens. Uganda Amateur Handball Federation (UAHF) official Jackson Byamugabe said over 40 teams are expected.
