By Abubaker MukoseDeputy Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has advised Ugandans to value education saying it is the only sure way of developing the country. She was speaking at the open day for Kiira College Butiki during which a farewell party was held for the long-serving school’s headmaster, John Richard Isabirye, on Saturday.Kadaga told students to engage themselves in Science and technical studies.“I have appreciated your exhibitions. But let me hope these will not end here. Work hard to ensure that you exploit the market because your items are of high standard. You could as well target the AGOA markets provided you are capable of producing in large numbers,” Kadaga said. She was accompanied by state minister for energy Daudi Migereko and the new headmaster, Daudi Mulongo.Kadaga hailed the school’s performance saying it makes her proud as a leader from Busoga region.Migereko said as political leaders, they would give a helping hand to teachers wishing to up-grade as a way of uplifting the standards of education in the country. He pledged to improve the quality of power supply to the school so that the school puts to other use the resources spent on operating a power generator.Isabirye, who served the school as headteacher for 20 years, was rewarded by the old boys’ association with a Toyota Corolla car.He also received sh5m donated to him by the board of governors of the school at a colorful function held in the school’s main hall.
