By Vision Reporter FIFTEEN Tabliq Muslims, who were facing treason charges for over seven years, were freed on Friday but seven of them were re-arrested by the Joint Anti-Terrorism task force.Justice Mary Engena Maitum of the High Court, had by midday cleared all the 15 treason suspects, saying the prosecution had failed to adduce enough evidence. But as they were getting out of the High Court main gate at 4:30pm, security operatives, some in civilian attire immediately pounced on them. The Police said the seven had made contacts with the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels to rejoin the war.The arrest happened after the Tabliqs received their letters from the Criminal Registry of the High Court at 4:30pm.The common letter, which was signed by the Registrar, Lawrence Gidudu, read as follows:“This is to certify that the above named person..., who on February 25, 2002 were charged with the offence treason C/S 25 (1) of the Penal Code Act, have been acquitted.”Ends
