EIGHTEEN suspected ADF rebels were yesterday produced before the High Court under tight guard to answer charges of treason.

By Maurice OkoreEIGHTEEN suspected ADF rebels were yesterday produced before the High Court under tight guard to answer charges of treason.Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Duncan Gaswaga ordered the committal of the suspects after the Director of Public Prosecutions, Richard Butera, said he was ready to adduce evidence. The suspects, who had been on remand in Kigo Prisons, had among them two women with babies under one-year old. Others are two sisters of Jamil Mukulu, the ADF commander. Mukulu’s sisters, Mariam Nalubega, 20, was alleged to have been ADF’s financial controller while Hadijja Bukirwa, 28, was an alleged ADF coordinator.State Attorney Ndamulira Atenyi said the accused, between July 1996 and 2001 while in Kasese, Mpigi, Masaka and Jinja, plotted to overthrow the Government.
