TWO cultural groups shared the first prize after judges failed to determine the best in the just concluded Table of the Sun festival at Namboole stadium over the weekend.

By Geoffrey KamaliTWO cultural groups shared the first prize after judges failed to determine the best in the just concluded Table of the Sun festival at Namboole stadium over the weekend.Dynamic Adungu, from Nebbi district and Watmon cultural dancers, took home a sh2.6m cheque each, handed to them by the gender, culture and social development minister, Zoe Bakoko Bakoru.The three-day event, which started on Friday registered a low turn-up of spectators due to lack of publicity. Over 20 out of 36 registered groups participated in the show.Other groups, including Intwari cultural dancers from Rwanda and a Congolese group, scooped a sh2m prize each while four others took home various cash packages.“Culture is alive. If soccer can bring us together, then culture can also bring us closer. I am encouraged by this festival and as soon as we get out of here, let’s organise for next year’s,” she said.Sudanese Charge d’Affaires in Uganda, Mohammed Sirajudeen, promised that his country would send a group of dancers next year.Ends
