By Joseph Kabuleta Boxing official David Agong, who was suspended from the Commonwealth Games for making “political decisions”, has shot back saying it was the decision to suspend him that is political. Agong allegedly made the “political decisions” in a light welterweight fight between Kevin Anderson of Scotland and Ashgar Ali of Pakistan. The former Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) president ruled 39:25 in favour of the Scot. Curiously, the president of the International Amateur Boxing body Dr Anwar Chowdhry, who suspended Agong, is from Pakistan, the home country of the loser. Agong wondered why he was the only one accused when three other judges had also awarded the fight to Anderson. Judges from Canada, New Zealand and England all ruled in favour of the Scot. “The computer score shows that the man from Scotland won,” Agong said. “Why was nothing done to the judge who ruled in favour of the Pakistani.”Despite reports of his indefinite suspension, Agong joined the rest of the officials at the ringside yesterday.
