THE speaker of Moroto, Joseph Lomonyang, has said the disarmament exercise in Karamoja is flopping due to alleged failure by the Government to guarantee security, reports Juliet Nankinga.Lamonyang said the local leaders had relaxed in urging residents to surrender guns.“The disarmament exercise in the beginning was promising but as of now it has flopped,” he said.He said the Karimojong had become vulnerable after surrendering their guns to the UPDF.Recently an estimated 3,000 UPDF soldiers in Karamoja were withdrawn and re-deployed under “Operation Iron-fist” to fight the LRA rebels in Pader district.
