By Kenneth OtimSUSPECTED Bokora Karimojong warriors attacked Okoboi internally displaced people’s camp in Katakwi and killed two people leaving four critically injured.A Local Defence Unit (LDU) man, Isaac Ojilot, and Thomas Ojulu were killed in the gunfire exchange during the raid.The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when an estimated 80 warriors attacked the camp guarded by 13 LDU personnel and stole 140 head of cattle.Those admitted to Soroti Hospital included Deborah Asio, Bernard Okanya, James Okoboi and R. Ebayu.The Katakwi Resident District commissioner, Ndiwa Chemswet, said in a telephone interview that Hellen Atiang and Okello from Okoboi parish were abducted.The warriors took a sub-machinegun with 200 bullets from the LDU.Kapelebiong district councillor Julius Ochan said the people in the camp were in fear of another possible attack by the Karimojong.He said people in the camp had alleged that the assailants were rebels of Joseph Kony’s Lord Resistance Army (LRA).But a statement by Col. Sula Ssemakula, the in- charge of the disarmament programme in Karamoja, said the attackers were Bokora warriors from Matany in Moroto and not rebels.Ends
