By Nicholas Kajoba GOVERNMENT has donated 33 bicycles to the youth in Mukono to mobilise adolescents on the reproductive programmes. The bicycles were handed over to the youth by the LC5 secretary for health, Swaibu Male, at Nakisunga sub-county headquarters on Friday. The Programme for Adolescent Enhancement of Reproductive Life (PEARL) is carrying out the programme to sensitise the youth on safer sex and health matters. The co-ordinator of PEARL, Joel Musisi, said the majority of the youth in the district are dropouts from school who need sensitisation on their reproductive life.Musisi warned the youth against indulging in early marriage saying they may be vulnerable to unwanted pregnancy and the AIDs scourge. The PEARL programme was initiated in the district in 1999 and covers over six sub-counties. Musisi urged parents to instil discipline in their children in order to become responsible. He said his department had donated bicycles to mobilisers’ groups in the sub-county to enhance their job of mobilising fellow youths.Musisi decried high cases of incest in the district saying local leaders should unite to deter the problem.Swaibu Male advised leaders in the sub-county to support government programmes that aim at fighting poverty.Ends
