THE NNABAGEREKA has urged mothers who did not attain enough education to go back to school to uplift their standards of living, reports Abubaker Mukose. She said lack of enough education among women had led to a culture of over-dependence on husbands.“This culture is greatly hindering the process to emancipate ourselves,” Nagginda added. She was on Saturday speaking at a fundraising concert at Victoria Nile Primary School grounds. The concert was organised by the Inhebantu of Busoga, Alice Muloki, to raise funds for the girl-child education in the kingdom.“We should not wait for our husbands to provide everything. Therefore, through education, your lives will improve and I want to mainly encourage mothers who dropped out of schools due to pregnancies to go back and read since education doesn’t end,” Nagginda said. Flanked by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, and Busoga Katukiro (Prime Minister) Dan Batuwa, the Nnabagereka hailed Busoga Kingdom for initiating the girl-child education campaign. She said girls were mothers of the nation who required exposure. “Get engaged in projects to support your husbands in educating children,” Nagginda said.Inhebantu urged parents to give necessities required by the girls.Ends
