SCHOOLS and needy athletes’ efforts have been boosted with an offer of equipment from a charity in England.

The offer has squash and tennis rackets, cricket gloves, shoes and track suits for junior athletes and for the development of sports.

An official from the charity, Jaz Karim, handed over the equipment worth $3,000 to National Council of Sports (NCS) assistant general secretary John Odyek and squash coach Simon Kajubu last week.

Karim is also NCS’ coordinator for sports abroad.

Another NCS official James Kasumba, said the beneficiaries will receive the equipment through their associations.

The charity collects the equipment from London for the benefit of the local athletes.

Kasumba said the charity has in the past helped needy Ugandan athletes.
